Record the flight essentials

At minimum, save the date, aircraft, flying location, flight duration, and number of takeoffs and landings. Battery identifier or fuel used can help connect performance with a specific power source.

Add conditions that affect the flight

Wind speed and direction, gusts, temperature, and runway condition provide context for aircraft performance. GPS distance, altitude, and speed are useful when reliable tracking equipment is available.

Save maintenance and pilot notes

Document damage, repairs, unusual sounds, control changes, battery condition, and tasks required before the next flight. Brief notes about maneuvers practiced or skills learned make the log useful for pilot development too.
